The Client

Weymouth and Portland Info is an Alacrify-created community website providing a useful online guide to Weymouth, Portland and the surrounding area.

Designed for local residents and visitors alike, the site brings together information about local businesses, shops, places to eat, accommodation, transport and other useful services, helping people discover more of what this part of Dorset has to offer.

The Project

Weymouth and Portland Info was conceived, designed and developed internally by Alacrify rather than being commissioned by an external client.

We wanted to create a comprehensive local resource that could bring a wide variety of information together within a single, easy-to-navigate website while also providing another way to support and promote businesses throughout the area.

The project involved creating a content-rich website design capable of organising numerous different types of local information and business listings. Using the Alacrify Content Management System, the website could continue to grow and evolve as new businesses, information and local content were added.

As one of our own Dorset-based projects, the site also gave us the opportunity to apply our website design and development experience to a platform created specifically for the local community.

The Result

Weymouth and Portland Info provides residents and visitors with a central online resource for discovering businesses, services and useful information from across the local area.

Its structured approach makes it easier to move between different types of content, whether someone is looking for somewhere to eat, planning a stay, finding local transport information or discovering a nearby business.

For Alacrify, the project also demonstrates our ability to design and manage larger directory-style websites containing a substantial amount of regularly changing content, while supporting the visibility of independent businesses and organisations within our local Dorset communities.
