Volunteer Centre Dorset

The Client

Volunteer Centre Dorset is a local organisation that promotes and supports volunteering opportunities throughout Dorset, helping people find ways to use their time, interests and skills to make a difference within their communities.

Working with volunteers and organisations across the county, the Centre helps connect people with a wide variety of opportunities, from environmental and conservation projects to arts, culture, sport and community-based roles.

The Project

Having previously worked with Volunteer Centre Dorset on their website, Alacrify returned to the project in 2019 to give the site a significant update.

We introduced a fresh responsive website design, improving the experience for people accessing volunteering information from mobile phones and tablets as well as desktop computers.

Behind the scenes, we also upgraded the Alacrify Content Management System, giving the Volunteer Centre team a simpler way to manage and update information across the website.

The project went beyond the technical rebuild. We provided training and practical advice to help the team understand the new system and get more from their website after launch.

The Result

The updated website gave Volunteer Centre Dorset a clearer and more accessible platform for promoting volunteering across the county and directing people towards opportunities to get involved.

A responsive layout made information easier to access across different devices, while the improved CMS gave the team greater control over keeping website content accurate and up to date.

Combined with training and ongoing support from Alacrify, the project provided Volunteer Centre Dorset with the tools and knowledge needed to confidently manage an important online resource for volunteers and community organisations throughout Dorset.
