New Website for Botanical Artist

Today sees the launch of a new website for award-winning botanical artist, Meriel Thurstan. Meriel's work has been inspired by the Lost Gardens of Heligan and The Eden Project, where she was a pivotal member of the Friends of Eden team.

She teaches on several botanical art courses and has published several books which have been highly commended.

Joy and Trepidation

Creating a new site for Meriel was a joy and also full of trepidation. Working with someone with an obvious design flair herself we were keen to make the right impression in the design we presented. The process has taken a couple of months to complete but both we and Meriel are delighted with the results.

Meriel's website before

Meriel's website before. The simply designed site didn't show off her work to its best.

The site's former incarnation worked functionally, but didn't really show off the fabulous quality of Meriel's paintings. Our new design sprang directly out from the paintings themselves. The colour schemes were lifted straight from the nature's own palette. The resulting design is light, crisp and delicate and sets off the images that Meriel has chosen for inclusion in the site.

...and After

...and After. This is the new design for Meriel's home page.

The Gallery

The Gallery. We created a light, airy design that showcases Meriel's award-winning paintings.

AAA Standard

We have again created a AAA WCAG accessible site and registered the site with Google Analytics and SiteMaps to speed up the site's re-indexing.

You can view the site here: www.merielthurstan.co.uk If you have time to drop Meriel or us a line with your impressions of her site we'd love to hear from you. jon@alacrify.co.uk
